The Watsons Photograph Los Angeles

aftermath of Santa Barbara earthquake, June 1925 George Watson/Watson Family Archive
Coy and Golda Watson's huge family (nine kids) was omnipresent in Los Angeles's nascent movie industry. In all, they appeared in more than 1,000 films. And then, five of the six boys decided to work behind the camera instead. Inspired by their Uncle George Watson, who was the L.A. Times's first full-time staff photographer, they chronicled their city's story. Their pictures are preserved in the Watson Family Photographic Archive (story, lots of pictures): http://www.kcet.org/updaily/socal_focus/history/la-as-subject/the-watson-familys-la-a-century-of-photography-in-the-city-of-angels.html?fb_ref=fbrecbar
