'They Have the Right To Be Children'

Kakenya Ntaiya
Kakenya Ntaiya saw a different life for herself than the one she was born to follow in Kenya. So at the age when the other girls were getting married, she, who had been engaged at age 5, went to school. Now, armed with a Ph.D. and the will to make a difference, she has returned to her Maasai community and opened a boarding school for girls. "When you give the girls information," she says, "vital information that they're not getting anywhere ~ they make the right choices, they make the right decisions" (video): http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/news/culture-places-news/kakenya-ntaiya-vin/
