The first time most of us ever heard about mead was in
Beowulf (remember Heorot, the mead hall that Grendel invades?) ~ it was probably the last time, too, unless you've been to a Renaissance Faire or your kid, like mine, comes home with some he made at his college co-op. Get ready to hear more about it. Mead seems to be making a comeback and moving out of private kitchens and into the wider market, but this isn't your ancestor's honey-based drink:
