Chile's LoO0Oove Lair

Some rooms have painted floors, and the Oriental theme is popular. Gideon Long
I can think of one U.S. representative who could have used this place a couple of years ago, but it's too late now. The Hotel Valdivia, in Santiago, Chile, is closing after 54 years of helping the adventurously amorous be discreet about their amour. From its original 7 rooms when it was opened by a young widow in 1959, it grew to 48, with patios, onion domes, and spiral staircases. Each room, not unlike California's own Madonna Inn (http://www.madonnainn.com/index.php), has a different theme.
"It's an amazing place," said Leonor Valenzuela, a chambermaid there for 42 years. "There's nothing quite like the Hotel Valdivia and I don't think there ever will be" (story, slideshow): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-22742972
