South Sudan 101

Since its birth as a separate country in July 2011, I've posted a few times about South Sudan (http://somanyinterestingthings.blogspot.com/2012/03/across-sudan.html, http://somanyinterestingthings.blogspot.com/2011/07/happy-birth-day-south-sudan.html, http://somanyinterestingthings.blogspot.com/2013/02/we-have-nation-now-what.html). Now, of course, we know that the country that started out with such hope is dealing with the same challenges as so many others. Why?
