Yeah, yeah, it's a Hallmark holiday, but what the heck. This is still interesting: an interactive timeline starting with the first known "lonely hearts" ad ~

Millionaire Matchmaker, which has got to be one of the most demeaning and vulgar shows on TV these days, though it does have a lot of competition in that category):

P.S., My honey and I met on the only blind date I'd ever been on ~ a group outing to a disco called Big Daddy's ~ yes, I admit it! (The couple that introduced us divorced about two years later.)
