The British Library has put on exhibit its treasures from India's Mughal Dynasty (1526-1707 ~ actually, it struggled on until 1857, when the British defeated the last emperor), most of which were collected by discerning representatives of the British East India Company in the mid-1700s. At its height, the Muslim rulers of this dynasty reigned over an empire that included most of modern-day India as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and parts of Afghanistan and Iran: http://www.economist.com/blogs/prospero/2012/11/mughal-india
