Bridging the Meghalaya

Some of the bridges are double-deckers.
In the very, very rainy northeastern Indian province of Meghalaya (which means Abode of the Clouds), the bridges are woven from the living roots of the rubber trees on the banks of the rivers. Living on for hundreds of years, they bridge not only the valleys but the generations (slideshow and video): http://www.laboiteverte.fr/des-ponts-en-racines/
