Books for All Seasons

Really, I'm not at all sure why summer has been designated as the time to read good books. Can there be anything more enjoyable than losing oneself in a well-written tale in a comfy armchair as a cold rain pummels the windows? or on a cushioned porch swing in the warm, dry breezes of early fall?
