Waste Not

It's a tough statistic to swallow, but apparently 40% of our food in the U.S. goes to waste. It isn't our problem alone, however, and the European Union has named 2014 as the "year against food waste": http://grist.org/food/dear-u-s-government-please-get-your-food-waste-act-together/
